Achievements

     *  AJIE was contracted to initiate a coalition that would include the various levels of federal, city as well as service providers in the Metro DC that would form a collaborative group for the purpose of developing a focused effort around "strengthening families and supporting healthy marriages." Phase I of the collaboration was a conference that the group convened on March 20, 2009 at Howard University. The prominent members of the coalition were The Administration for Children & Families, the DC Dept. of Human Services, The Greater Washington Urban League, Howard University Dept. of Social Services, United Planning Organization, Wedded Bliss, DC Head Start, DC Marriage First, Kingmaker Foundation, Life Starts Youth and Family Services, Summit Health for Research & Education, Inc. (SHIRE)  & Galilee Baptist Church. The conference featured 17 workshops that included two gender specific youth workshops. Consistently, participants gave high marks for the quality of workshops.

     *  AJIE being contracted by the African American Healthy Marriage Initiative to develop & facilitate a conference in Newark, NJ at Essex County College entitled "Strengthening Families and Communities - October '07, presented the following after conference report:  By and large, those that participated on the planning committee sacrificed time and effort in order to attend meetings that in some cases had to be called on short notice. A partial list of organizations that participating on the committee included the NJ Urban Mayors Association, Essex County College, Mayor of Irvington, NJ, Administration for Children & Families (Reg. II), Police Institute - Rutgers University Newark, NJ Attorney Generals Office & Churches in Cooperation, Inc. This effort represented a level of commitment that was evidenced during the conference proceedings with outcomes beneficial for the Northern NJ Community. At the conclusion of the conference, many participants expressed great anticipation to be involved with the next steps announced by the Urban Mayors Association. The conference, thus was a siginificant success.

*      As national consultant for the Institute for Responsible Fatherhood, Inman helped navigate the organization to expand from 6 city locations to 14. The service delivery programs in theses cities were supported by the US Department of Labor, US Dept. of Health and Human Services, The Texas Workforce Commission, and the New York Human Resource Administration. During the life of these programs over 300 fathers and there families were brought to meaningful relationship as well as gainful employment.

*      Led team to develop a vocational training curriculum formerly credentialed by the New York City Human Resource Administration. This credentialed program prepared low income fathers to qualify for outreach positions previously reserved for those with more education and experience. It was determined that these individuals could be more effective if properly trained around interpersonal communication.

*      Structured collaborative relations between the Institute for Responsible Fatherhood, state and local partners in all cities where outreach programs were established. These collaborative efforts yielded record levels of accomplishments in a number of cities.

*      Supported the Corporation for National Community Service to host a national level conference and grassroots program entitled “Strengthening America’s Children and Families” that uniquely collaborated with government, private and faith based organizations that produced insights and partnerships not previously achieved.

*      Co-hosted a series of annual New York State Parent’s Day forums for the purpose of promoting the two parent family as meaningful to achieving the “healthy family” in our society. The highlight of activities in 2004 was a rally co-sponsored by community and clergy groups that celebrated the New York State “Parents of the Year”. This event was held on the plaza of the Adam Clayton Powell State Office Building in Harlem, NY.

*      Recognized for outstanding presentations around the country in the area of human services and faith based social action that works to enhance family life.
